Last night the COGBL held their annual general meeting. Attendance was at an all time high for the past couple of years and many decisions were made. We’d like to welcome the newly inducted 2013 COGBL executive. Familiar faces were joined by a couple of new ones this year. Your 2013 executive consists of:
President: Healy Thompson
Women’s Convener: Alana McKinley
Vice President: Alan Waffle
Treasurer: Tracey Lawson
Secretary: Drew Clemenhagen
Webmaster: Kylie O’Donnell
The 2013 COGBL season welcomes back Annette (Coached by Gary O’Donnell, Paul McElcheran, Shirley O’Donnell), the Royal York Cardinals (Coached by Greg Harper), as well as the Hamilton Lady Cardinals (Coached by Jacy Flynn). Most excitingly, we would like to welcome the newest addition to our league an amalgamated team to be coached by Gary Elliot and Tracey Lawson (Name TBA). With at least 4 teams its looking like it will be another great season for women’s baseball in Ontario! Good luck ladies!
Once again the COGBL will be hosting the Can-Am Challenge in 2013 in Toronto, ON through June 29 to July 1. Janet Moore has been designated the 2013 tournament director and we look forward to another great international tournament in Toronto! More news to follow on the Can-Am Challenge 2013 in the upcoming weeks.
In other news, COBGL’s rep team, the Toronto Fusion, are looking forward to another good season. The Fusion sadly says goodbye to the coaching expertise of Alan Waffle who was a big part in getting the team up and running over the last couple of years. Joining Coach Greg Harper and attempting to fill Alan’s gigantic shoes are two new Fusion Coach inductees, Gary Elliot and Gary O’Donnell. Glad to have you both aboard gentlemen! The Fusion plans to participate in the 2013 Baltimore Diamond Classic in Baltimore, MD (May 24-27), the Can-Am Challenge 2013 in Toronto (June 29 – July 1), and Roy Hobbs in Fort Myers, FL (Date TBA). Additionally, the Toronto Fusion is planning on entering into a midget boys loop in the Royal York Baseball League this season. Open tryouts for the Toronto Fusion will be held in early spring. Be sure to check back for tryout details.
Overall it was a very successful evening and we are all looking forward to an exciting 2013 season. Good luck!
